Reunited with My First Love

Sidney Sheldon books!:)

Because classes are suspended until saturday
Because we don't have cable TV
Because we can't go out of our house due to the flood

I am re-reading Sidney Sheldon's The Other Side of Midnight. Yey for me! In the novel there are some facts about WW1 and WW2 and I more or less know about them (much thanks to my History 18.2 class)

I really want to go out tomorrow and head to Megatent. Concert plus helping others equals a win-win and cool situation. BUT! the flood hasn't subsided. Uff!

Ketsana (aka Ondoy)

Saturday. 26 September 2009

I hated my prof for not giving us a free cut when the rain was hammering the whole of metro manila. And my brother's cello teacher said that he still has a recital practice and class that day. So I went to class, was super annoyed that my prof was late and she said that she's sorry for making us stay and wait, she didn't know that it would be like that hard. We went on with the discussion until 12nn, dad had to walk from Mcdo Katips to Ateneo to fetch me because the flood in some parts of Katipunan was waist deep.

While walking near Gate 2.5, I just had to stop and take pictures of the road. I never thought Katipunan would be flooded like that. It was scary and amazing at the same time. It dawned onto me like I was seeing a scene from a disaster movie, and the exciting and sad part of it is I am in that movie. Here's the pictures I took using my phone:

When I got to Mcdo, I was super happy that my family stayed and waited for me. And I was super happy that daddy was able to fetch me :) Yey to daddy my hero!:D

After eating lunch, we decided to go home. But the cars were parked like crazy in front of Mcdo.

Daddy the hero was able to wiggle the van's way out of the messily parked cars. (the picture above was taken when we were out of the parking) The streets were empty. I know this will sound weird but I was really amazed by it. It really felt surreal. I AM IN A DISASTER MOVIE was all I was thinking as we were on the road.

Daddy had to look for roads that are not flooded to get home quickly. We passed by Floodway and the water was high, near the bridge already and the current was very fast. The people were on the streets and bridge looking at the water. I believe they were as bewildered as I was.

After an hour or so of traversing in the typhoon, we got home safe. Some of my YFC friends had been texting that they were stranded in some parts of Pasig because of the rain, while others were stuck in their homes.

We didn't have any electricity for almost a day. The electricity went out at around 3pm last saturday and was back on last sunday around noon.

My brother was in Baguio when all of these happened. He came home last Sunday, 27 September 2009 evening. He said he had to walk from Pasig Rotonda to Mercedes Street, took a truck (the driver told him to get on the truck) until the main gate of our village, and walk for about 15-20 mins to get to our house. He said that the water in main gate was waist deep.

Until now, the flood in our village has not subsided.

I really wish the flood would go away so that I can go to any relief center and volunteer.

Many people lost everything because of the typhoon, worse many people died. I have friends who lost everything-clothes, books, appliances, etc. I wish I can be a superhero :) for them, to give them what they need, but all I can do for now are my prayers.

News this Morning

Was waiting for my mom and dad to bring me to school today. While waiting, I watched the "morning news" and look what I heard.. *nerd mode*

Belguim
Farmers dump 3M liters of milk on roads and pastures, as their means of protest to the low dairy products.
-> Silly thought: what will happen to the grass? or the plants? LOL.
-> The EU is working on this, according to the news.

Japan
New Prime Minister Yukio Hayotama was elected by their parliament's lower house and took the position yesterday. He is from the opposition, a liberal party. This "event" is the 1st time in 5 decades. The prime ministers of Japan had been all conservatives.
-> Hello "new" Japan? or maybe "reformed" Japan.
-> Is quite "excited" how this event will turn out for the Japanese.

Philippines
Yesterday, the administration "officially" announced that Gibo Teodoro will be their presidential candidate for the 2010 elections. Bayani Fernando, who was suppose to be part of a "dinner", when said he'll just go to the CR, but didn't return.
->uhm... what what what? why didn't bayani return? i smell something fishy... LOL.
->I don't know if I'll vote for Noynoy or him. o.o He "looks" like an ok man. (i think)

So much for my nerdiness. *Nerd mode: OFF*

of Philo and Gummy Bears

It's 12:21 am, I'm munching on Mr. Red Gummy Bear's body and I am still not done with Marcel's Incarnate Being. Even if I cannot understand the entirety of his article, I like the "tidbits"/info from the different paragraphs.

"To encounter someone is not merely to cross his path but to be, for the moment at least, near to or with him."
Romantic pala si Marcel. Haha! May "unrequited love" na dating pa. No, I think maybe this notion of romance is only in my head. He could mean encounter in the sense of partnership or friendship or I-don't-know-what...

But what struck me in this article is how he gives importance to "encounter".

He asks, is encounter:
out of arbitrary chance?
personal destiny?

The ultimate question: Was I meant to meet you and not somebody else?

Marcel said in the article that that one person you meet, could forever change your life. May he be a man you met in a bookstore and both of you were reading the same book or a kid who kept looking at your colorful bag when you were in line in the groccery to pay for whatever you're buying.

But relating it to love is more "kilig" and fun! hahaha!:D
